Appreciating my readers
Regular readers will know that one reason I write this blog is as an aide memoire for myself when it comes to obscure topics where I had to work it out. Another reason is a love of the written word (thank you, Mrs Taylor, my favourite high school teacher) which I don’t have much of an outlet for otherwise.
However, it’s always a joy when somebody gets in touch to say they read this. Whether it’s someone I grew up with catching me at home over Christmas or Easter, a colleague, or indeed someone from the other side of the country/world who has the same garage door controller/open banking problem, I appreciate it.
A friend and colleague of mine who was a regular reader and had some insightful comments died unexpectedly a few weeks ago - all the more shocking as he was only two years older than me. Rest in peace, Matthew, and I’ll do my best to imagine what you might have said about recent content.
And on the note of having to make the best of the time we’ve got: if you’re an old friend who I haven’t seen much of lately, do get in touch and let’s get you booked in to visit Oxford - I hear it’s lovely at this time of year. At least when you’re indoors by the fire.
