I was given some festoon lights for the garden for my birthday, and very nice they are too. However, having to walk to the far end of the garage to turn them on and off at the socket was a bit of a faff.

I’ve used various kinetic switches before, including TLC’s Quinetic brand - but the switches and receivers do run into money a bit. So for some garden lighting where the switch could float about like a remote control rather than needing to be integrated into existing switch plates, it was time to try something cheaper:

Acegoo wireless switch

This feels pretty solid, the receiver (sitting inside an IP-rated box outside with the LED driver) is compact, and it Just Works from a decent distance away.

Which means, given the awful weather this summer so far, I can console myself by sitting inside admiring the pretty lights out back.
